I recently entered a Tourism Australia Competition for which entrants had to upload a photo and complete a statement about Australia. I was thrilled when contacted by Tourism Australia this week to say my photo had won 3rd place. I cannot wait to take my family to the Wolgan Valley Resort and Spa in NSW! How amazing does it look and what a perfect place to indulge in taking more photos of our beautiful country! My entry is below.
There’s nothing like an Aussie childhood… warm summer nights, sandy feet, sunscreen, salty skin, friends, ice-cream, barbecues… golden skies, laughing, splashing along the shore. The best of days.

I truly believe that Australia is the most magnificent country and I am super grateful to be an Aussie. I love travelling, I have zig zagged coast to coast across the USA on a Greyhound bus, what an adventure that was. I met my husband and a group of brilliant life long friends in the beautiful mountains of Vermont in New England, a place that will always hold a big piece of my heart. I have watched my brother and sister in law marry in northern China and gasped at the beauty of the Summer Palace in winter, and at the amazing views of and from the Great Wall. I have had too much Guinness and sung Danny Boy in little pubs in Dublin. My kids have cousins on 3 continents. I am a traveller at heart, I love the adventure and the unknown, I love the journey. But there is nothing better after the journey than coming home. I will always remember touching down in Australia after my first big trip overseas when I was 19. I had been away for 7 months, had the most amazing time, and I didn’t really want it to end. Then ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ came over the plane’s speakers (true story
) and I looked out my window to see Sydney Harbour and the Bridge in all its magnificence. And while I still yearned for the freedom of my adventures, I understood that old saying, ‘there’s no place like home,’ especially when home is with the people we love and full of magic like the places below!
